Project Name: NOAA Center for Weather & Climate Prediction (NCWCP) IT Infrastructure Planning & Implementation Project
The Canton Group assembled a Project Team of 14 senior-level Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and, through Team efforts, developed comprehensive requirements specifications packages for NOAA. These were approved as the baselines for planning the IT infrastructure of the new NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction (NCWCP) facility. Having successfully completed this tasking (Task Order-001), we were awarded a second Task Order. Our Project Team is currently working with NOAA management and the GSA Design/Build Team to ensure the implementation/transition/migration to a robust, compliant operational IT infrastructure.
The Canton Group is leading a Project Team of SMEs to define the technical requirements, develop detailed designs and specifications, and oversee the implementation of the new NCWCP facility IT infrastructure systems. We are providing Project Management and Systems Engineering for all IT infrastructure technology segments, including:
- Cable Plant Design
- Local Area Network (LAN)
- Wide Area Network (WAN)
- Voice Systems
- Audio Visual (AV) Systems
- Data Center and Telecommunications Rooms
- Technology Spaces Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP)
- Operations Transition / Migration
The primary challenges of this Project:
- Definition of NCWCP organization-specific needs and their translation into consensual technical requirements
- Establishment of a cooperative relationship with the General Services Administration (GSA) Design/Build Team to ensure delivery of the IT infrastructure in accordance with specifications with the least possible number of changes.
Systems and platforms:
- Cisco Routers and Switches
- Windows XP Servers (clustered and blade systems)
- Linux and Unix Servers (clustered and blade systems)
